1. Orientation Workshop on Social Science Research for Research Scholars and Faculty Members Belonging to Scheduled Tribe and Other Marginalised Groups (SC/OBC/Minorities (August 2-4, 2016), supported by the Indian Council of Social Science Research, New Delhi. This workshop aims at providing young researchers from weaker social backgrounds with foundational inputs in social science research. About 25 researchers from various institutions/universities in India, participated in this workshop.
2. Capacity Development Workshop for the Officers of Directorate of Economics and Statistics (DES) in Statistical Methods and Analysis (September 23-25, 2015). The Directorate of Economics and Statistics (DES) set up by the state governments are mandated to provide, reliable, timely and credible social and economic statistics to the governments in order to enable decision making that promotes the goal of balanced economic and social development. Supported by UNICEF, the GIDR conducted a refresher training programme for DES staff in statistical methods and analysis with the aim to enhance the capacities of the technical cadre at DES, who in turn could train the staff members at the district and block levels. This capacity building programme has two components – (a) classroom sessions and (b) individual mentoring to prepare a project report.
The workshop was attended by 30 DES officials. The pedagogy of these sessions involved lectures and practical sessions using EXCEL and SPSS. The participants worked on a practical project under the mentorship of faculty members of GIDR.
