Gujarat Institute of Development Research (GIDR) Ahmedabad and Gujarat Natural Farming Sciences University (GNFSU) Halol “Reimagining Indian Natural Agriculture Position” at GIDR from February 24-25, 2024 to create entrepreneurial opportunities, achieve food security, and inclusive sustainable agriculture Promote growth. The program will be inaugurated by His Excellency the Governor of Gujarat Shri Karakamal. For this, during the press meet, the Vice President of GIDR Mr. Sunil Parikh presided over this program. Prof. (Dr.) Nisha Pandey Director, GIDR and Dr. C. K. Timbadia Saheb Vice Chancellor, Gujarat Natural Farming Science University (GNFSU), Halol briefed the media about the objectives of the conference. Dr. Pandey spoke about the importance of clean food on a clean life and a clean mind, adding that the food we eat today contains various chemical substances that affect our health. Organic farming is the only way to make our food safe and this not only benefits the farmers but also the ecology. She pointed out that various stakeholders such as farmers, consumers, policy makers and various organizations need to come together to achieve safe food for all. The vision of which is being implemented at the national level by our honorable Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi. In Gujarat, Hon'ble Shri Acharya Devvratji Hon'ble Governor of Gujarat and Shri Bhupendra Patel Sahib, Hon'ble Chief Minister, Gujarat have laid great emphasis on promoting organic farming in the state. Dr. Timbadia Saheb Vice Chancellor, GNFSU spoke about the mission of GNFSU to develop various farmer friendly technologies for organic farming farmers in the state. He pointed out how the world's first university dedicated to organic agriculture is successfully preparing future agricultural experts and farmers in Gujarat and elsewhere in the country who will lead the society towards safer food production and less polluting environment as well as increasing farmers' profits. Efforts to promote natural farming through scientific evidence-based research and innovative technologies are being seen on a large scale. Conference convener Dr. Rudra Narayan Mishra informed the media that GIDR its director Prof. Under the leadership of Pandey, efforts are being made to develop a resource center of social scientists to further the cause of organic agriculture that will help the nation achieve various sustainable development goals. How GIDR GNFSU and N.L. Mr. Mandir, a progressive farmer practices natural farming, developing a five-tier forest model through natural farming methods in his campus under the supervision of Mandirsaheb. Mr. Mandir who also conducts various motivational training programs for subsistence farmers in the state. He briefed the media about the conference and how GIDR and GNFSU have created new narratives as knowledge partners in the promotion of natural farming methods in the state.
